Basava Samithi of Australasia, Brisbane Branch Inc. is honoured to host the Seventh International Sharana Samskruthi Sammelana 2016. We would like to extend an invitation to this convention to one and all, irrespective of their social background and belief system.

We ensure that being part of this gathering will enrich your knowledge and give you a new direction in life to help create a harmonious and balanced society in our modern world. We will be delighted to serve you a delicious vegetarian meals and snacks throughout the day. The main objective of this convention is to promote the principles of Basava philosophy and to introduce them to the younger generation so that they carry forward the rich heritage and the ”the rich moral values”, that can be leveraged by the society.

Session 1 :Suprabhatha

International convention is an all-day event, commencing with “Samoohika Ishtalinga Pooja” at day break under the able guidance of the Swamijis and other eminent Basava followers and devotees. Group meditation and prayers will be performed under the able guidance of the Swamijis and breakfast will be served as ‘prasada’ upon completion of this session. Tthere are two parts to this form of worship, “shiva pooja” and “shiva dhyana”, in other words, the first part involves worshipping of the shapeless, formless representation of the Supernatural Power and the second part is a unique form of meditation which aims to activate the inner senses to unite with God.

Session 2 :Udaya

After morning tea, the convention will officially commence with a grand opening ceremony accompanied by speeches from the delegates. Apart from the Swamijis, a number of key Government officials, Council and Ward representatives are expected to be part of the inauguration. The divine atmosphere is expected to be enhanced by enlightening speeches from Swamijis and other eminent speakers. Eye-catching cultural programs which promote universal brotherhood will be performed by little children and various cultural and ethnic groups followed by lunch.

Session 3 :Anubhava Mantapa

The afternoon session will commence with panel discussions that will be anchored by scholars to initiate thoughts on certain key issues relevant to reforming the society, with reference to the principles embedded in the vachanas. This session also aims to portray other forms of art, which depict the moral values and key messages of vachanas. A display of art work on canvases by young children and adults will be held. These art works will be auctioned. A yoga demonstration will be held, where the benefits of yoga and the linkage of vachanas to yoga will be displayed and discussed.

Session 4 :Asthamana

This is the prime time of the entire event and the evening ceremony will be inaugurated by lighting the evening lamp and welcoming the delegates. Key highlights of this session will be the performance of Vachanas in Indian classical dance form (Bharatnatyam) and ‘Sharanara Nataka’ (play depicting an event of ‘Sharana Movement’). The session and the convention will conclude with the closing ceremony and the announcement of the next venue for the Eighth International Sharana Samskruthi Sammelana 2018, followed by a delicious vegetarian dinner.
