Who we are

Basava Samithi, has been in the forefront in propagating Basava philosophy of life and the teachings of other contemporary Sharanas of 12th Century across the world. Basavasamithi of Australasia Brisbane Branch Inc came to existence on 18th June 2005. It was inaugurated by Dr P.S.Shankar, Director, Gulburga Medical College, Karnataka, India. Basavasamithi was set up with a view to propagating the Basava philosophy which is all about wishing well of all living beings irrespective of their caste, colour or creed.

Basava Samithi centres are established all over the world in order to bring about communal harmony, inculcate social values among individuals which lay the foundation for a strong social, economic, moral society.

 ಕಳಬೇಡ ,ಕೊಲಬೇಡ, ಹುಸಿಯ ನುಡಿಯಲು ಬೇಡ, ಮುನಿಯ ಬೇಡ ,ಅನ್ಯರಿಗೆ ಅಸಹ್ಯ ಪಡಬೇಡ, ತನ್ನ ಬಣ್ಣಿಸಬೇಡ ಇದಿರ ಹಳಿಯಲುಬೇಡ ಇದೇಅ೦ತರಂಗ ಶುದ್ಧಿ  ಇದೇ ಬಹಿರಂಗ  ಶುದ್ಧಿ ಇದೇ ನಮ್ಮ ಕೂಡಲಸಂಗಮದೇವನೊಲಿಸುವ ಪರಿ. 

President’s Message

We the members of Basava Samithi of Australasia Brisbane Branch Inc., are delighted to welcome you all to the 21 st year of celebration of ‘Basava Jayanthi’ in Brisbane. “Sharanara baravemage praana jeevaalavaiah”  This year, we are indeed honoured and privileged to receive the blessings of Sree Sree Shivasiddeshwara Swamigalu, Junior Pontiff of Sree Siddaganga Math, Tumkur and Sree Sree Shivalinga Swamigalu, President of Sree Medini Math, Thalakadu Hobli, T.Narasipura Taluk, Mysore District, on the occasion. We are very grateful for the opportunity to welcome them to Brisbane and benefit from their words of wisdom. ಬಸವಣ್ಣನವರು ಜಗತ್ತಿಗೆ ನೀಡಿದ ಅಮೂಲ್ಯ ಸಂದೇಶ- “ಕಾಯಕವೇ ಕೈಲಾಸ, ದಾಸೋಹವೇ ದೇವಧಾಮ.”

ಶ್ರಮ ಗೌರವವನ್ನು ಎತ್ತಿ ಹಿಡಿದು, ಕಾಯಕ ದಾಸೋಹ ತತ್ವಗಳ ಮೂಲಕ ನಾವು ಮಾಡುವ ಕೆಲಸಕ್ಕೆ ಆಧ್ಯಾತ್ಮಿಕ ಮುಖವನ್ನು ನೀಡಿದ, ವಚನಗಳ ತಿಳಿನುಡಿಗಳ ಮೂಲಕ ಸಮಾಜಕ್ಕೆ ಸರಿದಾರಿ ತೋರಿದ ಬಸವಣ್ಣನವರ ಉಪದೇಶಗಳ ಬೆಳಕಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಜೀವನ ನಡೆಸೋಣ.
